Fermentation Friday 3/27: Bryon @ Home Brew Beer .NET

And here is the topic.
How will you grow or change as a homebrewer this Spring?

I can think of a few things. One would be to change the way we trim back the hop shoots this year.

Visit Bryon's blog, http://www.homebrewbeer.net to participate in Fermentation Friday. If you don't have you're own blog , not a problem, just leave comments. Participating early or late isn't usually a problem :-)

Very cool idea, that I was not aware of until I read Bryon's post. As a person resurrecting his homebrewing hobby after years of inaction, this topic is right up my alley.

Since my wife is expecting she has had two requests. One is for me to brew stuff that she doesn't like as much so she doesn't feel as left out. The other request is that I brew vanilla porter in mid May so that it's hitting it's peak flavor around the beginning of July when our daughter is due. I'm even going to bottle part of the batch in 6oz bottles since her tolerance will be diminished. That's how my brewing habits will change. BL

Bryon, seems like you hit a nerve with this topic :-)

Thanks BL for the comment. Could we call this "beer nesting" ;-) Check out Bryon's blog for more of this kinda stuff next Friday and good luck on the vanilla porter. Have you brewed it before?

This will be the third time brewing the vanilla porter. It's a kit brew from my local homebrew store and we add 2oz of pure vanilla extract at bottling time. It is probably our favorite homebrew that we do and several of our homebrewing friends also like it. Bill.
