Yeast Starter: reusing the Belgian ale yeast

About two months ago I brewed two five gallon batches of Belgian style ale. Both used the same Belgian White Labs yeast WLP550. I'm going to reuse the yeast I saved from the yeast cake on one of the beers. First thing to do. Make a yeast starter. I'll use John Palmer's recommended method of creating a yeast starter as a guide this time.

- 1 pint of water
- 1/2 cup of dry malt extract
- yeast nutrient (oops don't have any)

I guess I should figure out my beer recipe now so I can match my specific gravity in the starter to the recipe. Many people say that works better. I'll be back with my decision and what I did to reuse the yeast for this next batch or two.
